Less Expensive Than SUVs
You would expect an SUV with lots of horsepower and bulk to cost at least somewhat more. Even when it comes to maintenance (replacing brake pads and tires, for example), sedans tend to be cheaper.
Comparable Performance & Features
When the SUV first became popular, it had a lot of features that sedans simply did not. Nowadays, automakers have created shared platforms that are available in almost any vehicle type. Off-roading is usually going to be easier and more effective in an SUV, but it’s not like you can’t get four-wheel drive and have a similar experience in a car.
Easier To Park
This one is obvious. The advent of parking-assistance technology came about as a necessity for parking large SUVs. Sedans use much less parking space and are way better for parking parallel or in tight spots.
More Efficient Than SUVs
Compare the Audi models of sedan and SUV, which are similar in engine capability (2.0-liter; 4-cylinder engines). The Audi A4 Sedan gets a combined fuel economy of 28 mpg, whereas the Audi Q5 SUV gets a combined fuel economy of 25 mpg. Also, the engine costs are different. The Q5, despite being the same capacity costs $4,200 more than the A4.
Improved Handling
Granted, SUVs have come a long way in terms of handling. Sedans still maneuver better due to their lighter weight. You can count on sharper turns with less likelihood of rollover.
Less Saturated Market
SUVs are being marketed much heavier these days, which can make the process of buying one a bit precarious. Sedans experience a lot less competition especially with many models being discontinued in recent years.
Many CUVs & SUVs Are Sedans At Heart
Smaller CUVs like the Toyota RAV4 are based on sedan models like the Toyota Corolla. Many SUVs can mimic some of the best aspects of cars by copying their suspension designs. This should not surprise anyone familiar with the popularity of crossover models.
